A senior Hamas official has officially confirmed the killing of Azzam Al-Hayya, the son of the movement’s leader, Khalil Al-Hayya, in an Israeli strike on Gaza.
This is the fourth time that one of the exiled Hamas leader’s sons has been targeted and killed in Israeli military action.
Khalil Al-Hayya, who has seven children, has been targeted by Israeli intelligence agencies on several occasions over the years, but has managed to survive assassination attempts.
Last year, one of his sons was also killed in an attack on the Hamas leadership in the Qatari capital, Doha, although the original target, Al-Hayya, also survived.
