The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the killing of Ahmed Ali Balut, commander of Hezbollah’s Redwan special forces unit, in a targeted strike in Beirut on Wednesday. The Israeli side described the operation as a “precision strike” against one of the Lebanese movement’s military leaders.
According to the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), three rockets were fired at a residential building in the southern suburbs of Beirut. It is noteworthy that this is the first Israeli attack on the capital, Beirut, since the ceasefire was established in Lebanon.
Hezbollah has not yet officially confirmed the news of the killing of its commander.
