The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine reports that at least 70 civilians have been killed and more than 500 injured in Russian strikes in the country since May 1.
“The scale of civilian casualties and the extent of the areas targeted in just a few days are of particular concern,” said Daniel Bell, the head of the mission.
The report, published on the mission’s official website, lists the main strikes carried out by Russia in less than a week.
In particular, on May 5, airstrikes fell on an industrial district in Zaporizhzhia, killing at least 12 people and injuring 46. On the same day, airstrikes hit the center of Kramatorsk, killing at least six people and injuring 13.
Multiple missile and drone strikes since May 1 have resulted in casualties and injuries in Ternopil, Rivne, as well as in the Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Poltava, and Odesa regions.
The report notes that Russia has carried out multiple strikes on targets and that emergency services and rescue workers are among the dead and injured.
