Apple has agreed to pay $250 million in a class-action lawsuit alleging that it “advertised overstated” the artificial intelligence capabilities of iPhones. Under the settlement, some iPhone users could receive up to $95 in compensation. The case dates back to Apple’s introduction of the iPhone 16 in 2024, when it touted new, “smarter” features for its Siri voice assistant as part of its “Apple Intelligence” system.
The settlement covers about 37 million devices sold in the United States between June 2024 and March 2025. The devices include the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models. The minimum payment per device is $25, and the maximum is $95, depending on the number of applicants and other factors. Apple will notify users by email or postal mail to submit a claim through a special website. At the same time, Apple is still trying to keep up with competitors Google and Samsung, which are already more actively developing their artificial intelligence solutions.
