“Vazhnye istorii” also notes that tensions between law enforcement agencies have increased against the backdrop of assassination attempts on high-ranking military personnel. In particular, Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu is seen as a destabilizing factor, and the arrests of his associates are seen as an attempt to weaken his influence.
By presidential decree, ten more high-ranking generals were placed under FSO protection, which indicates the preservation of the political weight of Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
