According to the magazine “Vazhnye istorii”, since March 2026, a high level of alarm has prevailed in the Russian presidential administration. Vladimir Putin is concerned about information leaks and the risks of a possible conspiracy or coup by the political elite.
In this context, the Federal Security Service (FSO) has tightened security measures to an unprecedented extent.
The president and his family have stopped visiting their usual residences near Moscow and Valdai, taking refuge in modernized bunkers.
Putin’s close associates have been banned from using smartphones and public transport, and video surveillance systems have been installed in their homes.
Communication networks are periodically disconnected in certain districts of Moscow, and information about the president’s visits is strictly monitored.
“Vazhnye istorii” also notes that tensions between law enforcement agencies have increased against the backdrop of assassination attempts on high-ranking military personnel. In particular, Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu is seen as a destabilizing factor, and the arrests of his associates are seen as an attempt to weaken his influence.
By presidential decree, ten more high-ranking generals were placed under FSO protection, which indicates the preservation of the political weight of Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
