The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute reports that the delegation led by French President Emmanuel Macron, who arrived in Armenia on a state visit, visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex. There, they were welcomed by RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Minister of Education and Science Jeanne Andreasyan, RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France Arman Khachaturyan, and AGM Acting Director Hrachya Tashchyan.
The presidents of the two countries laid wreaths at the memorial commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide, after which other members of the delegation laid flowers at the eternal flame and observed a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Then the guests approached the Wall of Remembrance, where small jars filled with soil taken from the graves of several intellectuals, political and public figures who raised their voices in protest against the Armenian Genocide are placed. Ex-President Hasmik Martirosyan introduced the guests by name, drawing special attention to the pro-Armenian activities of Frenchmen Anatole France and Dartiges du Fournet.
At the end of the visit, French President Emmanuel Macron made a note in the Guest of Honor’s Book of Commemoration.
