European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said during an extended meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that there has always been a special connection between Armenia and Europe.
“Our ties are rooted in myths and ancient civilizations. Opportunities also unite us. Armenia and the EU are closer than ever,” the European Commission President said, adding that they are making good progress in the dialogue on visa-free travel and ensuring investment flows.
€2.5 billion is already foreseen in our investment program under the Global Gateway project. With this summit, we are entering a new level,” she stressed.
According to her, Armenia truly provides the shortest route from Europe to Central Asia and the Caspian Sea. “Previously, this route was closed due to war and geopolitical considerations; now you are changing that, thanks to your courageous choice for the sake of peace and greater integration into the European network,” Ursula von der Leyen emphasized.
