French President Emmanuel Macron referred to his statement yesterday that he would discuss the issue of Armenian prisoners with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“First, I will discuss it with the President of Armenia and the Prime Minister of Armenia. After that, I will call President Aliyev, and together we will determine the best course of action, whether through a personal meeting or this phone call. But you can count on me: I firmly believe in this peace process,” he said.
According to the French President, “I think that a moment of truth has come for Europe, which requires greater unity and greater ambition. This meeting was important. We must accelerate the process even further and move forward. We need a strong Europe that reduces its excessive dependencies, makes its own decisions in the fields of peace and security, and acts as a truly united continent bound by a common destiny. This is what we believe in.”
