The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that, from now on, only human-created acting works and scripts can be nominated for the Oscars. The new rules clearly state that a real person must perform the acting, and a human must write the script.
This change is associated with the widespread use of artificial intelligence in filmmaking. Recently, the use of AI has increased; for example, it is planned that the late actor Val Kilmer will be recreated by artificial intelligence and star in a new film.
At the same time, the academy does not prohibit the use of AI in films in general. It is noted that the use of such tools neither helps nor hinders the nomination of the award. However, the role of humans in the creative process remains decisive. The academy also reserves the right to request additional information if doubts arise about the use and authority of AI.
