Moscow has been hit by a drone attack ahead of the May 9 celebrations. According to Euronews, a drone struck a high-rise apartment building on Mosfilmovskaya Street, just 7 kilometers from the Kremlin, on Monday night. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed the attack, saying there were no casualties and that air defenses shot down the drone.
The attack came as the Russian capital was on high alert. According to Ukrainian foreign intelligence, preparations for the parade are underway in “military isolation,” with communications to Moscow cut off and hundreds of air defense systems deployed to the city.
The Kremlin has already announced that this year’s Victory Day parade will be significantly scaled back: due to the “operational situation,” no military equipment or cadets are scheduled to pass through.
Moscow has offered the US administration a ceasefire on the day of the parade, but continues to refuse to engage in direct contact with Kyiv.
