President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met with President of Bulgaria Iliana Yotova at the Presidential Palace.
The President of the Republic of Bulgaria is on a working visit to Armenia to participate in the European Political Community Summit.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan, welcoming his counterpart, thanked him for visiting Armenia and for participating in the important international summit in Yerevan.
The President stressed that the continuous development of friendly relations and close cooperation with Bulgaria is of great importance to Armenia and noted the signed joint declaration on strategic partnership, which is a sign of bilateral readiness to deepen multi-sectoral cooperation.
Iliana Yotova expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality, emphasizing that there are established traditions of cooperation between Bulgaria and Armenia, which contribute to the strengthening and expansion of multi-sectoral cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding bilateral economic cooperation, reaffirming their commitment to developing trade and economic ties.
The activities of the Armenia-Bulgaria Chamber of Commerce and Industry were highlighted as an effective platform for activating business ties and implementing new initiatives.
The interlocutors also discussed issues related to the international cooperation agenda. The President of the Republic informed that in October 2026, Armenia will host COP17, the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which will be preceded by a leaders’ summit scheduled for October 16, 2026, in Yerevan. In this context, President Khachaturyan expressed hope that the Bulgarian side will participate in the summit at a high level.
The parties also touched upon regional developments, emphasizing that the peace established in the region creates new opportunities to promote interregional ties and communication programs. In this context, the importance of the “Trump Path for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) project was emphasized.
The importance of further developing cooperation in the Black Sea region was also emphasized, as it is an important platform for expanding Armenia’s transit and infrastructure capabilities.
During the meeting, the role of inter-parliamentary cooperation was emphasized as an important factor in strengthening bilateral relations and institutional development.
The parties reaffirmed their willingness to continue cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, contributing to the further strengthening and development of Armenia-Bulgaria relations. Particular attention was paid to the importance of exchanging best practices in the development and strengthening of democratic institutions and, where necessary, to investing joint efforts.
