Karabakh has been mired in conflict for 30 years, but Azerbaijan is striving to establish stable peace in the South Caucasus region. As the report states, this was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.
“Over the past 30 years, Karabakh has been associated with war, conflict, and bloodshed. However, preserving the memory of the tragedies of the past, we look to the future – to the peaceful future of Azerbaijan and the entire South Caucasus,” he said.
The Assistant to the President noted that Azerbaijan has always prioritized good-neighborly and peaceful relations with all neighbors in its foreign policy.
“However, this priority could not be fully implemented, since we conflicted with Armenia. But today I can say that Azerbaijan has already established friendly and good-neighborly relations with all neighbors, including the Republic of Armenia,” he emphasized.
Hajiyev also added that a new status quo is emerging in the Caucasus region, grounded in legality, legitimacy, and the norms and principles of international law.
