On April 28, the opening ceremony of the new building of the Armenian Embassy in France took place in Paris, with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, and the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noël Barrot.
Ararat Mirzoyan raised the tricolor of the Republic of Armenia in front of the embassy, the Republican Military Orchestra played the national anthems of the two countries, and after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the embassy was officially opened.
The event was welcomed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to France, Arman Khachatryan, and speeches were made by the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and France.
Minister Mirzoyan noted in his speech: “This day is significant not only in terms of strengthening the diplomatic presence of Armenia, but also in terms of the increasingly strengthening friendship between Armenia and France. A friendship that has a rich history and is anchored in the common values we profess: freedom, democracy, and solidarity, the best expression of which is your large presence here today.
I want to express my gratitude to the French authorities for their continued support, as well as to you personally, Mr. Minister, dear friend, for personally participating in this very important event for Armenia.
This solemn opening takes place a few days before the planned state visit of the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, to Armenia. A visit that I am sure will become one of the most important milestones in the history of our bilateral relations. In fact, since Armenia’s independence was restored, relations between Armenia and France have steadily improved. Today, Armenia and France have established strategic relations based on close political dialogue, regular high-level contacts, active parliamentary and decentralized cooperation, and multi-sectoral partnership, which is evident at the bilateral, European, and international levels. A truly strategic partnership, which will soon be enshrined in a document to be signed by French President Emmanuel Macron and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.”
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot noted in his speech: “Mr. Minister, as you mentioned, in a few days the President of the Republic will leave for Armenia on a state visit, which will mark the exceptional strengthening of ties between our two countries. At that time, Yerevan will become the beating heart of Europe, hosting the European Political Community Summit and the first Armenia-EU Summit.
This event is evidence that our two countries have chosen to walk together into the future with determination and confidence. Armenia’s bold commitment to establishing peace with Azerbaijan has opened a new horizon on the path to peace, security, and prosperity in the South Caucasus.”
