Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has made a sensational statement, calling the claims that Ukraine or Moldova could overtake Georgia in terms of European integration or development “empty speculation.”
The head of government stressed that Ukraine is in a difficult humanitarian and economic situation: the economy is collapsing, infrastructure is destroyed, and corruption has reached unprecedented levels.
Speaking about Moldova, Kobakhidze called it one of the most corrupt countries in Europe, adding that since 2022, Georgia has managed to boost its economy and reduce the gap with Moldova to about $14 billion.
According to the Prime Minister, the institutional crisis and corruption in Moldova directly hinder the country’s growth, rendering comparisons with Georgia unfounded.
