The Russian state-owned “Честный знак” (Honest Mark) labeling system has suspended online and offline sales of a batch of Armenian “Jermuk” mineral water.
Revaz Yusupov, deputy director general of the country’s Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (the labeling operator), told RBC that 338,000 bottles were in circulation and are now blocked for inspection.
The suspension is allegedly due to a letter from Rospotrebnadzor, in which the agency noted “the need to take urgent measures to prevent possible harm to the life and health of Russian citizens.” The reason for the blocking is “violations of mandatory requirements.”
The products with production dates of February 17, 2026, and March 5, 2026, have been banned, according to reports. According to Yusupov, “they will not reach consumers until the inspection is complete.”
The labeling system had already suspended the sale of 2.5 million bottles of Jermuk after the poisoning of a resident of North Ossetia in 2024. The reason for the ban was allegedly that the bottle contained acetic acid instead of mineral water.
