The first footprint left by man on the surface of the moon has become a historical symbol: the famous image shows the crescent-shaped imprint of an astronaut’s boot on the dusty, gray ground. These footprints were left by astronauts of the Apollo and subsequent missions between 1969 and 1972. These footprints have survived on the moon to this day. Since there is no wind or rain to erase them, scientists believe that they can remain for millions of years.
