Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has called on the Lebanese government to stop making “free concessions” to Israel ahead of bilateral talks in Washington next week. In a written message broadcast on Al-Manar television, Qassem stressed that they will not accept a return to the status quo ante and called on officials to be more decisive.
“We will not accept a return to the status quo ante; we call on officials to stop making free concessions,” Qassem said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said yesterday that Israel would begin talks with Lebanon “as soon as possible” aimed at disarming Hezbollah and reaching a comprehensive peace agreement between the two countries.
