The unstable situation in the Middle East and the threat of military action have caused serious concern in the international aviation sector. Pilots from Lebanon to India have expressed their concerns to the International Federation of Pilots’ Associations, noting that flights in the region are conducted under extremely unpredictable conditions.
The main fear is related to missile strikes or drone attacks, due to which airspace can be closed at any moment without prior warning.
However, in addition to security issues for pilots, there is another internal threat: many aviators have admitted they are afraid to refuse assignments in dangerous directions, as they fear this will lead to labor sanctions.
This applies to both salary loss and permanent dismissal from work. Ron Hay, president of the International Federation of Pilots’ Associations, confirmed the news, emphasizing that there is a “subconscious fear of retaliation” in the industry.
