US President Donald Trump has said his plans to increase the number of warships and troops around Iran will remain in place “until a real deal is made.”
“If for some reason this does not happen, which is highly unlikely, there will be a ‘shootout’, bigger, wider and more powerful than ever before,” Trump wrote.
He also insisted that Iran cannot build a nuclear weapon and that “the Strait of Hormuz WILL BE OPEN AND SAFE.”
Meanwhile, a New York think tank has warned that the initial ceasefire in the war against Iran is “on the verge of collapse.”
The Soufani Center has said that Israeli strikes in Lebanon pose a risk of a ceasefire violation.
“Although Lebanon is not officially part of the agreement, the scale of the Israeli strikes will nevertheless likely be seen as an escalation,” the analysis says.
