French President Emmanuel Macron and Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian had a telephone conversation. Macron stressed the need to stop hostilities in Lebanon. Pezeshkian noted that France’s role at this stage is of paramount importance.
Pezeshkian described the instability imposed in the Strait of Hormuz as a direct consequence of the military aggression against Iran by the United States and Israel and emphasized Iran’s responsible role in ensuring the safe passage of ships through the vital waterway.
Macron expressed Paris’s readiness to cooperate in international efforts to establish peace and security in the Persian Gulf region.
