The strategically important King Fahd Causeway, which connects Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, was closed early this morning amid threats of Iranian attacks.
The bridge’s management said that traffic was temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure due to the threat of possible attacks targeting Saudi Arabia’s eastern province.
The nearly 25-kilometer-long bridge is Bahrain’s only land connection to the Arabian Peninsula. The country also hosts the US Navy’s 5th Fleet, further emphasizing the strategic value of the infrastructure.
Experts say the move is a sign of a sharp deterioration in the security situation in the region and could further affect both military and economic stability.
