The semi-official Iranian Fars news agency reports that the United States has presented a proposal to Iran to resolve the conflict, which would entail key changes to the negotiation process.
In particular, Washington has expressed its readiness to involve Vice President J.D. Vance in the negotiations, replacing special envoy Steve Witkoff. Tehran perceives this step as a result of Witkoff’s close ties to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s circle.
The Donald Trump administration is seeking to organize a direct meeting and conclude a new agreement. The change of negotiator is seen as an attempt to start a serious dialogue and respond to Iran’s demands. Thus, the American side wants to create a more reliable platform for further discussions.
Such haste on the part of the United States is also due to economic concerns. The White House is trying to prevent a possible increase in energy prices, which is predicted next week due to ongoing tensions in the region.
