US President Donald Trump announced that a search and rescue operation has been launched and the pilots of the downed F-15 fighter jet have been rescued.
“In the last few hours, the United States military has conducted one of the most daring search and rescue operations in US history for one of our wonderful staff officers, who is also a highly respected colonel, and I am excited to report that he is now safe and sound. This brave warrior was stationed in the perilous mountains of Iran, behind enemy lines.
At my direction, the United States military has dispatched dozens of aircraft, armed with the most powerful weapons in the world, to extract him. He has sustained injuries, but he will make a full recovery.
This miraculous search-and-rescue operation also follows the successful rescue of another pilot yesterday, which we did not confirm in order to avoid jeopardizing a second rescue operation.
“The fact that we were able to carry out these two operations without a single American being killed or injured proves once again that we have achieved absolute air superiority over Iranian skies,” the US President noted.
