Apple will announce security updates to protect iOS users from a hacking tool called DarkSword, which can compromise some iPhones running iOS 18 when users visit a malicious website.
Apple’s latest iOS 26 is already protected against DarkSword, but the new updates are specifically designed for users who haven’t updated their devices yet. This step is called “backporting,” in which a security update is released for an older operating system without requiring an update to the latest iOS.
