India and Azerbaijan are taking the first steps to restore political trust after a tense period during Operation Sindoor last year, the Indian Economic Times reported.
Consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries are expected to be held in Baku this week. A high-ranking official from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs will participate in the meeting. The two sides intend to resume dialogue and initiate confidence-building measures.
According to Azerbaijani media, an additional positive impetus was provided by India’s recent statement of gratitude to Azerbaijan for facilitating the evacuation of about 200 Indian citizens from Iran during the conflict in the Middle East.
The publication notes that this issue was discussed during a Wednesday meeting in Baku between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the new Indian Ambassador to the country, Abhay Kumar.
