The Washington Post reports that US military leaders have presented the US president with a plan to seize 450 kilograms of highly enriched uranium in Iran. The operation involves airlift equipment and the construction of a runway for cargo planes to remove the radioactive material.
This complex plan was presented to Trump last week, after he himself requested proposals. According to the publication, Trump was also informed of the enormous operational risks.
Experts call this one of the most complex special operations in history. It would require the deployment of hundreds or even thousands of soldiers and heavy equipment deep inside Iranian territory. Former Pentagon officials estimate that the mission could last several weeks and take place under constant enemy fire.
