Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a government session that Armenia is a country rich in energy resources. “The energy resource, without management, appears above our heads in the morning, and in the evening the sun goes away. We have so many resources that, without exaggeration, Armenia can be a self-sufficient country in terms of energy. We can create a situation where we do not need to import electricity,” the Prime Minister noted.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Davit Khudatyan added that the energy produced by a 15 kW accumulator or solar power plant is enough for one private house.
“In particular, it is enough for heating the house in the winter months, and in the summer months, it covers the cooling needs with electricity, not gas. If a family also operates one electric car, then a 15 kW solar power plant allows for widespread use,” he said.
It should be noted that the government is discussing a draft amendment to the Law on Energy, which also proposes regulations on energy storage.
