In an interview with Russia’s TASS news agency, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali outlined Tehran’s demands to the US and Israel for a lasting peace. The list consists of four points:
1. “A final and complete cessation of aggression and terrorist acts.
2. Providing objective and reliable guarantees to prevent the recurrence of aggression and war.
3. Full compensation for material and moral damage.
4. Respect for Iran’s legal jurisdiction in the Strait of Hormuz to protect international maritime security,” the diplomat noted.
“Highly appreciating the role and efforts of the mediators, we believe that peace depends only on the fulfillment of these obligations,” Jalali stressed.
He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always welcomed sincere and constructive efforts to establish stability and security in the region.
“However, it should be emphasized that any initiative or proposed plan to achieve a just peace and a lasting ceasefire requires taking into account the realities on the ground and fulfilling these legal and political conditions and requirements,” the head of the diplomatic mission emphasized.
Jalali stated that Iran will continue to exercise its inalienable right to self-defense until the source of the threat is eliminated.
“As for consultations with partners, Tehran always includes in its diplomatic agenda the exchange of views and coordination with its strategic allies, including Russia,” he added.
