The Academy Awards will move from the heart of Hollywood to the Peacock Theatre in 2029. That same year, the show will be broadcast on YouTube for the first time, bringing a new format to a global audience.
Since 2002, the event has been held at the Dolby Theatre, located next to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Academy and event organizer AEG have decided to move to the larger Peacock Theatre, which will have more seating.
The move also coincides with the shift from television to streaming. In 2028, the 100th anniversary of the awards ceremony, the event will still be held at the Dolby Theatre and will be broadcast on ABC.
