A large reservoir of fresh water may have been discovered beneath the Great Salt Lake in the United States. Although the lake is known for its high salinity, new research suggests a layer of fresh water may lie deep within it. Scientists from the University of Utah conducted an electromagnetic survey using a helicopter, which enabled them to distinguish salt water from fresh water and to study rock structure.
