Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati spoke by phone with US Special Representative Steve Witkoff to discuss the prospects for possible US-Iran talks. According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, this contact took place at a time when international actors are trying to revive the diplomatic process as the only way to prevent large-scale chaos in the region.
Cairo is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to coordinate the positions of various countries and ease tensions. In the same context, Abdelati also contacted the foreign ministers of Turkey, Pakistan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, France, and Cyprus to discuss the current situation and possible political solutions.
