A senior Iranian security official denied US President Donald Trump’s claim of effective negotiations, saying that no discussions were taking place. According to the Iranian source, Trump’s decision to postpone the strikes for five days was not a result of diplomatic progress, but a “retreat” due to real military threats voiced by Iran and increasing pressure on Western financial markets.
The Iranian official stressed that Tehran had given a clear response to all messages received through intermediaries: defensive actions would continue until complete restraint was achieved. The Iranian side described Trump’s five-day ultimatum as part of “psychological warfare”. It stated that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz would not return to its previous course as long as a state of war existed in the region. Tehran reaffirmed its readiness to continue large-scale defense and counterattacks, regardless of the pauses announced by Washington.
