An Iranian court has sentenced a man to death for participating in protests. He is accused of “enmity against God.”
A source close to the man’s family told Reuters that it is believed to be the first such sentence linked to the mass protests in January.
Thousands of people are believed to have been killed in the crackdown on the protests, which are considered the worst internal unrest in Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.
During the unrest, US President Donald Trump warned Tehran that he could order military action if the executions were carried out.
