US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on February 28 to update him on the progress of US-Iranian nuclear talks, APnews reports.
The US and Iran have recently held two rounds of indirect talks on Tehran’s nuclear program. Both sides have expressed some cautious optimism this week. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi even said, “A new window has opened” for reaching an agreement.
“In some ways, things have gone well,” US Vice President J.D. Vance said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday. – “But in other ways, it was very clear that the president has set red lines that the Iranians are not yet ready to accept and work on.”
Netanyahu visited the White House last week to urge Trump that any agreement on Iran’s nuclear program also include steps to neutralize Iran’s ballistic missile program and stop its funding of proxy groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.
