Levon Azizyan, director of the Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring, SNCO, posted a video on his social media page, writing:
“A natural phenomenon has been observed in Tampa Bay: a large accumulation of catfish. In English, such groups are known as a “fever of rays.” This term describes the coordinated movement of dozens, or even hundreds, of catfish, creating what appears to be a living underwater current. This behavior is usually associated with migration, feeding, or reproduction.”
