Google will soon release Android 17 Beta 1, officially kicking off a new phase of beta testing for the mobile operating system. The company’s representative announced this. At the same time, the developers have also released the final update Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1.
The first beta version of Android 17 will be built on the Android 16 QPR platform and will include the latest bug fixes, as well as stability and performance improvements. Participants in the testing program are not required to take any additional action; the update will appear automatically after the release.
Google maintains its usual development schedule: after quarterly updates, the company moves on to testing the next major operating system version.
Users who want to get the final stable version of Android 16 QPR3 must leave the beta program before the notification about Android 17 Beta 1 becomes available. Those who remain in the program will automatically switch to Android 17 Beta 1.
Google traditionally gives new versions of Android codenames that end in ‘dessert’. The official name of Android 17 has not yet been announced, but unofficial reports suggest it may be called Cinnamon Bun.
