The progress made by Azerbaijan and Armenia towards a peace agreement is a historic turning point. This was stated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a video message to the laureates of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity.
He noted that such a policy has exceptional moral and political significance at a time when the world is increasingly fragmented.
“The progress made by Azerbaijan and Armenia towards a peace agreement is a historic turning point. It shows that even protracted conflicts can be resolved through dialogue, responsibility, and restraint.
In an era marked by conflicts and divisions, this experience shows that reconciliation means strength, not weakness. Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Armenia are close, fraternal countries. We highly appreciate the trust shown in our country, including by hosting an essential round of peace talks in Almaty. This confirms our common principle that dialogue is the only way forward.
Kazakhstan has always supported initiatives that strengthen peace, trust, and cooperation in Eurasia and around the world. The Zayed Prize carries a powerful moral message. It reaffirms that brotherhood is a universal principle and a practical basis for ensuring security, development, and human dignity. This prize embodies the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which is based on tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence,” Tokayev noted.
