The authorities in Rome have officially introduced an entrance fee to the lower platform of the Trevi Fountain, one of the city’s most famous landmarks. From now on, tourists will have to make an online reservation in advance and pay a symbolic fee of 2 euros to get close to the monument.
Entry will remain free for Roman residents, but they will also have to book in advance.
The main goal of this decision is to manage the large influx of tourists and preserve the historic structure.
