Hollywood star Tom Cruise has put up for sale or abandoned his £35 million luxury apartment in Knightsbridge, one of London’s most prestigious districts. The reason is a large and daring robbery that took place a few months ago.
On January 20, in the afternoon, a group of 4-5 people on motorcycles armed with machetes, hammers, and other weapons broke into the famous Rolex store and, in just a few minutes, took more than 20 expensive watches worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. The robbers threatened customers and security guards, but no one was injured.
The 63-year-old actor had already noticed an increase in crime in central London over the past 1-2 years, particularly attacks on luxury goods stores. After the Rolex robbery, he finally decided that he no longer felt safe in the city and chose to leave.
There are reports that Tom Cruise has now either returned to the US or temporarily moved to another, quieter place. The apartment, which has a magnificent view of Hyde Park, is already advertised for rent or sale.
