European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said India’s global importance is growing, saying a successful India contributes to a more stable, prosperous, and secure world.
She made the remarks during a visit to New Delhi, which coincided with a new round of talks on a historic free trade agreement between India and the European Union.
Von der Leyen, along with European Council President Antonio Costa, attended the Republic Day parade on the Kartavia Road as chief guests.
It should be noted that Reuters earlier wrote that India is considering a significant reduction in import duties on cars from the European Union as part of a proposed trade deal. According to the publication, New Delhi may reduce import duties on cars from the EU from 110% to about 40%, and, over time, to 10%.
