The official report on the cause of death of the famous American grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky has been published. The 29-year-old chess player died in October last year at his home in North Carolina.
According to the forensic examination, Naroditsky’s death was an accident. Methamphetamine and kratom (an opioid-like substance sometimes found in supplements) were found in his system. The combination of these substances caused a heart rhythm disorder, which became the cause of death.
Daniel Naroditsky was known in the sports community not only as a talented chess player but also as a prominent streamer followed by thousands.
It is reported that before his death, he was in a difficult psychological state. Naroditsky blamed former world champion Vladimir Kramnik for this. According to him, Kramnik’s accusations that Naroditsky was cheating to win games were a fabrication.
In his last live broadcast, Daniel admitted that these unfounded accusations had a very heavy impact on him.
“I feel that if I start playing well, people immediately think badly of me,” he said.
Vladimir Kramnik called the incident “the greatest tragedy.” He denied any connection to the chess player’s death, noting that he even tried to offer help to Daniel when he saw his poor condition during the last stream.
It should be noted that Daniel Naroditsky was considered a brilliant young chess player who was awarded the title of grandmaster at the age of 18.
