Several countries have agreed to join US President Donald Trump’s “Peace Council”, while several European states have declined to participate. Many have not yet responded to Washington’s invitations.
The council, which Trump chairs, was initially expected to be a small group of world leaders to oversee a ceasefire plan in Gaza.
Its scope has since expanded: the Trump administration has invited dozens of countries and hopes that the body can take on a broader role as a mediator in international conflicts.
Al Jazeera has listed the countries that have agreed to join the “council” so far.
