A crew of four will fly to the far side of the moon. The flight could set a new record for the furthest humans have ever traveled from Earth. The Apollo 13 mission currently holds that record.
The 10-day mission, dubbed Artemis II, is scheduled to launch on February 6. NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch will be on board, along with Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency. It will be the first time humans have traveled to the lunar surface since Apollo 17 in 1972.
NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion capsule, designed to carry four people on a historic lunar mission, will soon be in the spotlight. They will make an hour-long journey from the agency’s vehicle assembly building to the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
