Mexico’s National Seismological Service reported that a 5.6-magnitude earthquake had struck the country.
“According to preliminary data, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake occurred 317 km south of the city of Chetumal, in the state of Quintana Roo,” the service said in a statement posted on its X page.
The earthquake was recorded at 00:08 local time (10:08 Yerevan time). Seismologists said the epicenter was located at a depth of 10 km.
There was no immediate report of possible damage or injuries. Reuters, citing witnesses, reported that an alarm signal had been sounded in the Mexican capital.
