On January 7, NASA announced that the spacewalk scheduled for January 8 had been postponed due to health problems of one of the astronauts.
On the morning of January 8, NASA officials reported in an email that the astronaut’s condition is stable, but this does not mean that all is well. “Safe operation of our missions is our priority, and we are actively exploring all options, including ending the Crew-11 mission earlier than planned,” the letter said.
Crew-11 is SpaceX’s final mission to the ISS, consisting of NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Michael Fink, Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yu, and Oleg Platonov of Roscosmos.
It should be noted that Crew-11 arrived at the ISS on June 2 and is preparing to complete a six-month journey in space. If NASA decides to return them earlier, it won’t significantly shorten the mission. NASA’s Christopher Williams and Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikhayev are also currently on the space station.
