US President Donald Trump confirmed that he does not believe that Ukraine attacked Vladimir Putin’s residence in Valdai. He made this statement in a conversation with reporters.
Journalists reminded Trump that he stated that he was very angry with President Zelensky because of the alleged Ukrainian attack on Valdai. In response, Trump noted that he “does not believe that such an attack even happened.”
“Something happened nearby, but it has nothing to do with it,” the US president added.
He also explained why he initially believed Putin and blamed Ukraine.
“Nobody knew anything at the time. That was the first time I heard about it. He (Putin) said that his house was attacked. We do not believe that it happened, at least not now that we have been able to verify it. But that was the first time we even heard about it,” he said.
At the same time, Trump added that he hopes that Russia and Ukraine will resolve the issue.
