Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated Azerbaijanis’ right to return to Armenia and the importance of preserving Armenian cultural heritage.
In an interview with Radar Armenia, the President of the Yerevan Press Club, Boris Navasardyan, noted that Baku also considers other scenarios, namely tactics for exerting pressure on Armenia to restore, and that some topics stand out in terms of implementing this pressure. One of them is the return of Azerbaijanis to Armenia.
According to him, the topic may be partly related to obtaining more favorable conditions for Azerbaijan, especially with the main Azerbaijan-Nakhichevan-Azerbaijan communication. According to Navasardyan, many details have not yet been determined by TRIP, and Azerbaijan is trying to exploit this uncertainty to interpret them in its favor.
Regarding the statement by the Special Representative of the Azerbaijani President, Elchin Amirbekov, that they hope the peace agreement will be signed next year, Navasardyan noted that everything has already been determined in the agreement. “That is, the initialing assumes that there will be no changes there. We are talking about contextual preconditions.”
According to him, Azerbaijan will probably judge after the parliamentary elections in Armenia to what extent it can implement an agenda that benefits it or yields quick results.
“Because speed and time are of great importance for Azerbaijan in connection with its plans to become an important communication hub,” he emphasized.
