The outer layer of the red giant star Kepler-56 rotates very quickly, about 10 times faster than in the case of ordinary red stars, and its core rotates in a different direction. Scientists believe that the reason may be that the star “ate” one of its planets.
When a star absorbs a planet, its energy accelerates the rotation of the star and can deviate the direction of the core and outer layer. Calculations show that the Earth was probably a “hot Jupiter”- type planet, with a mass of half to twice that of Jupiter and an orbital period of 1-6 days.
