Armenia and Denmark signed a memorandum

On November 11, a private meeting took place between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen in Copenhagen. The ministers’ discussion was then continued in an expanded format with the participation of delegations from both countries.

The interlocutors discussed in detail the entire bilateral agenda between Armenia and Denmark, agreeing to contribute to the deepening of the partnership through active political dialogue, as well as economic and other initiatives of mutual interest.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Lars Lokke Rasmussen discussed practical opportunities for expanding cooperation, including possible concrete programs in business ties, investment promotion, innovation, renewable energy, and other areas. Both sides emphasized that, despite the geographical distance, Armenia and Denmark share a close connection, with a common commitment to the development of democratic principles and like-minded partnerships.

Mirzoyan highlighted Denmark’s continued support for Armenia’s path to democratic development, expressing gratitude for Armenia’s inclusion in the “New Democracy Fund 2023-2026” program, which Denmark initiated.

The ministers discussed the work aimed at deepening the Armenia-EU partnership, also taking into account the current Danish presidency of the EU Council. Ararat Mirzoyan congratulated his Danish counterpart on the successful organization of the European Political Community Summit, highly appreciating the willingness of the Danish counterparts to exchange experience and cooperate in the framework of preparations for the upcoming YCC Summit in Yerevan.

The active dynamics of cooperation development in the Armenia-Nordic-Baltic (NB8) format were noted with mutual satisfaction.

At the meeting, thoughts were exchanged on regional issues. In the context of the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, opportunities for unblocking communication channels were discussed, with the effective implementation of which will also contribute to the expansion of the Europe-Central Asia communications network.

RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark.

The Memorandum emphasizes the importance of further deepening the Armenia-Denmark and Armenia-European Union partnerships. The two countries will continue their efforts aimed at gradually aligning Armenia with EU standards, strengthening its sovereignty and resilience, and enhancing its democratic institutions.

In parallel with regular political consultations, the two countries will foster dialogue and cooperation in areas such as green transition, renewable energy sources, human rights, culture, and other fields of mutual interest.
