Donald Trump said that Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa can make Syria a real success.
“We want Syria to be a country that will be a real success, and I think this leader can do that. We want Syria to be a country that will be a real success,” he said.
The US president also noted that people are skeptical about Sharaa’s past.
“And, you know, people say he had a difficult past. We all had difficult pasts. But his past is complicated, and frankly, if he didn’t have a difficult past, he wouldn’t have a chance,” Trump stressed.
